  • Giving Good Customer Service As An Internet Marketer

One of the reasons that people are drawn to Internet marketing is because they, perhaps incorrectly, assume that once they start they will have to put little effort into it. You need to create a website from which your customers can buy things, direct people to your site so they see what you have to offer, and then (or so the thinking goes) you can just sit back and watch the money roll in. When you skim the surface, it seems like it wouldn’t take much to start up. This could be the reason a lot of these internet marketers are doing a less than acceptable job at customer service. The problem lies in the fact that customer service is just as important in an online business as it is to one that isn’t online. Here are a few ways that you can ensure that you always give the best customer service to your clients when Internet marketing.

Email your current customers to see what suggestions they have for improvement. The most important thing is to let them know you really do care about their opinion, but that you may not be able to act on every suggestion given. You may be shocked by the information you get. You may even remind some customers that they’ve been meaning to utilize your services. Sales may come in because of your simple email.

It’s a good idea to give your customers a way to get in touch with you offline, whether it’s by telephone or mail. It isn’t hard to get a mailing address for this purpose, such as a rented post office box. You might also consider using Skype. You may be surprised how much people appreciate someone with an offline identity these days, even more so if you promptly respond to your Skype calls and answer your phone. You don’t have to answer the phone all night; have regular hours set aside for this, and post these hours online so people will know when they can call you. If you are at your computer during these hours, it will be easy to talk to anyone who calls. This kind of personal interaction will probably help you do more business, as you can do a better job selling when you talk to someone directly.

Another important aspect of customer service is offering your customers an easy way to reach you for questions or support. If there is no obvious way to make contact with you, people are less likely to buy anything from you. Without any support or contact information, a site appears to be fly-by-night and not someone to trust. You can’t expect to run a business and remain completely anonymous; you have to give people some personal service. You simply must give people some way to reach you. Yes, this creates more work for you, but isn’t it worth it if it helps you make the sale? Providing a certain amount of personal service is necessary if you want more customers.

It only makes sense to offer great customer service. See what kind of customer service is provided by other internet marketers. Those with good customer service will bring in more sales than those who don’t. Think along the lines of inviting real people to buy from you, not just customers. They are not simply PayPal accounts that send you money. By treating them as individuals, and using kindness and understanding, you’ll create return customers.
